WEST HAVEN, July 13, 2017 — The West Haven Columbus Day Committee will present its Italian-American of the Year award at the city’s 19th annual Columbus Day Celebration.
The honor is bestowed each year on an Italian resident, or couple, who epitomizes service in the city’s robust Italian-American community.
Accompanied by Italian music, members of the West Haven Italian-American Civic Association will escort the 2017 awardee to the steps of City Hall at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, for the special recognition.
Committee members and residents will join the recipient to fete the Italian navigator and observe their heritage with dignitaries and descendants of folks from the old country clad in red, white and green.
