2013-14 Connecticut Energy Assistance Program underway
The city has begun accepting applications for oil customers for the federally financed Connecticut Energy Assistance Program in the human resources office on the second floor of City Hall, 355 Main St.
For those who heat with electric and gas, the city will start taking applications Tuesday, Jan. 21.
The city will process applications by appointment Mondays through Thursdays. No walk-ins will be accepted.
Appointments for all heating sources can now be made by calling 203-937-3572.
Applicants who have difficulty speaking English are asked to bring a translator.
Eligibility for assistance is based on the income and assets of an applicant’s household. To qualify, applicants must provide pay stubs, including monthly Social Security benefits and pension checks, for the last four weeks for all household members 18 and older.
Applicants also must provide documentation of assets — recent bank account statements for all accounts for all household members — along with a current utility bill for those who heat with gas or electric, Social Security numbers and birth dates for all household members.
Beach parking stickers for nonresidents available at City Hall
Beach parking permits for nonresidents are offered for an annual fee of $75, payable by cash or check only. Nonresidents may buy the stickers from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays in the Department of Human Resources on the second floor of City Hall, 355 Main St.
Otherwise, the daily parking fee for nonresidents is $10 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and $5 after 5 p.m. in the Sandy Point, Morse Park and Bradley Point lots.
