WEST HAVEN, July 29, 2025 — (Pictured): Mayor Dorinda Borer, center, looks on as 8-year-old Anthony Alhage helps his cousin, Prospect Beach House owner David Kelly, cut the ribbon to celebrate the deli and market’s grand reopening under new ownership at 940 Ocean Ave. on Thursday, July 24.
Joining the ribbon-cutting are, from left, Kelly family members David Springer, Anthony Filippone and Carol Filippone; City Council members Dawn Callahan, D-6, Katie Mueller, D-9, and Gary Donovan, D-4; Kelly family member Jeanne Arturi; and Simon McDonald, the director of membership and marketing at the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The ceremony was organized by the chamber and was also marked by West Haven Economic Development Director Steve Fontana, city Fair Rent Commission Chairman Steven R. Mullins, and chamber board members Robert Creigh, Erin Eberhardt, the owner of West Shore Associates of West Haven, and Hala Urban, the West Haven branch manager of New Haven Bank.
Nestled in West Shore’s Prospect Beach neighborhood, the sandwich shop boasts breathtaking views of Long Island Sound and anchors the busy corner of Ocean and Prospect avenues in a historic landmark housing longtime businesses Tom & Pat’s Pizza and Picasso Parties.
Known for its casual beach vibe, food creations and outdoor seating, PBH prepares fresh, gourmet-style sandwiches, wraps, paninis, soups and specialty salads. It also offers a variety of coffee and baked goods, along with 16 flavors of Ashley’s-brand ice cream.
The coastal farmhouse-themed deli is open daily and serves food and ice cream from 6 a.m.-8 p.m.
In 2018, original owner and now landlord Chris Walsh christened Prospect Beach House Deli & Market after a 1920s neighborhood inn and eatery from the legendary Savin Rock Park days.
